The highly anticipated movie “Crew,” led by a trio of powerhouse actresses Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, graces the big screen today. Set in the aviation industry, the film loosely draws inspiration from the story of Vijay Mallya and Kingfisher Airlines. Saswata Chatterjee takes on the role of the owner of Kohinoor Airlines, while the main characters, Geeta Sethi (Tabu), Jasmine (Kareena Kapoor Khan), and Divya (Kriti Sanon), work as cabin crew members. With a runtime of 2 hours and 4 minutes, “Crew” offers a mix of comedy, suspense, and glamour, without resorting to pseudo-feminism or unnecessary nudity.
Director Rajesh A Krishnan, renowned for his direction in the popular OTT film “Lootcase,” skillfully handles the movie’s dual timelines, exploring the bond and challenges encountered by the trio of air hostesses. Tabu impresses with her portrayal as the experienced leader of the crew, while Kareena Kapoor Khan embodies ambition and intelligence with equal finesse. Nonetheless, the entire cast delivers praiseworthy performances, with Rajesh Sharma particularly shining among the supporting cast members.
Krishnan’s directorial efforts, although praiseworthy in ensuring logical consistency, leave certain storyline elements unresolved, slightly diminishing the overall impact. Nevertheless, the movie achieves a harmonious blend of sophistication and depth, with each character playing a significant role in advancing the overarching storyline.
